“Freddie Le Mutt” for Isabel, age 5 weeks, and her mamma
Sweetest. Commission. Ever. Freddie Le Mutt has an AWESOME story. So this lovely lady Christa contacts me last week, wanting to get a commission done for her best friend’s wife, Tara, and Tara’s new baby daughter. Turns out Christa and Tara had the EXACT same stuffed dog as children and have both kept the dogs for all those years. But wait, the story gets more interesting. Both their dogs just happen to have lost THE SAME EAR after all the years of loving. How kooky is that? Tara’s dog is named Freddie, and is also missing one of his eyes, and Christa’s dog is named Le Mutt and has a big rip in one leg. Christa sent me a picture of both dogs, and asked that I do a composite of both pictures – so two eyes, one ear, no rip. Make sense? Sweetest. Commission. Ever.

I had the same lovey. Correction: I still have the same lovey. It has all its appendages, but only because my mom reattached them all a few times. Also – she bought an extra one when I was a child and saved it and gave it to me for my daughter when she was born. Not rampant tears or anything over that . . . .
awwww. yeah, no tears, i’m sure there were no tears at all! I just painted another vintage Le Mutt dog this week! There’s even a facebook Le Mutt fan club! LOVE IT.
