“Lyle” for Matthew
“Lyle” for Matthew, a grownup Lyle is nearly 30 years old, but incredibly enough, he’s the EXACT same style of vintage “Le Mutt” dog that I painted just last month for another owner (see the “Freddie Le Mutt” post). The Le Mutt dogs were apparently a big hit in the 1980′s (there’s even a facebook fan page devoted to Le Mutt lovers everywhere). Lyle belongs to grown-up Matthew, whose wife commissioned a portrait of Lyle for Christmas lying atop Matthew’s childhood Raggedy Ann and Andy blanket. Updating... ...

“Crunchy” for Jeff, a grownup Jeff is all grown up now, but Crunchy was Jeff’s favorite stuffed animal as a child, and even traveled to college with him. Jeff’s wife thought he might like a portrait of Crunchy to have close to his bed, since Crunchy has been passed down to the next generation and now resides in their daughter’s room. Crunchy is dirty, floppy, and worn — exactly the way a well-loved stuffed animal should...

The description Sarah’s mom wrote to me is just too cute to paraphrase – so here it is, directly quoted: “You just don’t even know how...

“Benny Boy (or Girl?)” for Lisa, a grownup Benny Boy has an awesome story. He belongs to Lisa, who is now 21, but Lisa has loved him since she was very little. He’s traveled with her everywhere, sat with her in the car on long road trips, and comforted her in her hospital bed while she battled cancer at 16. Lisa’s mom had a tough time getting a photo of Benny to send to me, since he still spends every night with Lisa in her bed at college. Here’s Lisa’s mom’s story about Benny Boy: “When Lisa was first born, she had a pink bear the same as this...
